Chapter 317 No Comfort

Josephine bewilderedly cradled Lewis’ body as she sobbed heart-wrenchingly. She had no clue what to

do as they were surrounded by the vast ocean on all sides. Moreover, the yacht had already sailed far

away toward its unknown destination, and the cruise ship from earlier had already vanished into the

darkness. The strong sea breeze nipped at her face as she stared at the endless stretch of water

before her. All she could see were the large waves lighted by the moonlight.

Seth, who was currently still on the cruise ship, was locked in a fight with Draco when an explosion

occurred, causing chaos aboard. Draco and Faust thought Seth was the culprit behind the blast and

were chasing after him relentlessly to bring him back to answer for what he had done, to the point

where they weren’t concerned with escaping the sinking ship.

Seth ducked and weaved around the cruise ship as it gradually tilted as it sank. Many of its passengers

had already gathered on the top deck seeking to be rescued. Most of the lifeboats had been blown up

as well. Isolated in the middle of the ocean and cut off from help, they were as good as dead, which

was exactly the outcome that Kiran wanted. It would be pointless for him to blow up the cruise ship if

the people onboard could escape, so he targeted the lifeboats

first.

Faust began to feel anxious once the cruise ship was two-thirds sunk. “Fuck!”

Right now, the top deck was the only portion of the ship visible above the waterline, and practically

everyone had gathered there, including Seth. His forehead creased as he stared out at the sea. The

cruise ship had already sailed quite a distance, so it wasn’t possible for the yacht to follow after it.

Moreover, even if it did, it didn’t have enough fuel for the return trip home.

Amidst the throng, Faust swiftly spotted Seth and purposefully strode towards him. However, it was

Seth who had taken the initiative to approach Faust first.

“You little shit! I kindly let you all onboard, and you dare to commit a crime?” Faust had his gun raised

and held firmly against Seth’s forehead.

Seth raised both hands in the air in surrender and chuckled, completely unperturbed. “I wouldn’t still be

onboard if I really was the culprit behind this, Faust.”

Taken aback, Faust couldn’t help feeling that Seth had a point.

Draco, who had rushed over, aggressively grabbed Seth by his shirt collar. “Who’s the culprit then if it

wasn’t you?”

Glancing towards Draco, Seth had his signature smirk on his face as he asked, “I should be the one

asking you that, Draky.”

Seth said “Draky” with so much irony that it made Draco recall something. “Impossible! I’ve

known him for years! He wouldn’t do such a thing!”

“Then, where is he?” Seth questioned with a smile.

Draco didn’t know how to answer.

“Don’t tell me you actually believe he’ll give you a billion dollars?” Seth continued, twisting the knife that

he had plunged into Draco’s heart.

“What billion dollars?” Faust turned to Draco and questioned.

Draco flushed. Given that the cat was out of the bag, there was no point in him hiding it any longer.

“Kiran told me he would pay me a billion dollars if I killed Lewis,” he said with a gloomy face.

“Why you little-” Faust was dumbfounded.

A billion dollars was no small amount, and who could say that they wouldn’t have succumbed to the

same temptation as Draco if presented with such an offer?

“Looking at the current sequence of events, even if you did manage to kill Lewis, he would still sink this

ship when the timing was right,” said Seth.

Draco’s eyes widened. “How do you know this?”

“A billion dollars versus a few sacks of gunpowder-which do you think is cheaper?”

“Bullshit!” Draco shoved Seth away. It wasn’t because he didn’t believe Seth’s words; rather, he was

afraid to, as even he could not do something so insane.

Seth chuckled. “Then just pretend that I’m spouting nonsense.”

“Regardless of the reason, the ship is already sinking,” Faust suddenly interjected, “We’ll all be dead if

we don’t figure something out.” He glanced at the smug Seth as he spoke, “You have an idea, don’t

you?”

“Of course, but all of you want to kill me, so why must I help you?”

Faust and Draco exchanged a look. Do or die, Draco wasn’t so dumb as to gamble with his own. life.

Releasing Seth, he swallowed his pride and apologized. “I’m sorry, old friend. I jumped to conclusions

and misjudged you.”

“I’m truly sorry. You barged in suddenly, so we naturally thought you were the culprit, but now that

we’ve cleared the air, we’re apologizing for our mistake.”

Seth chuckled and didn’t hold it against them any further. After all, he needed their help.

“Get people to bring out all of the fuel on the ship. I’ll call for someone to sail over with a yacht, but it

can’t fit everyone, so you’ll need to decide who to rescue.’

“Roger that!” Faust immediately agreed.

The cargo

hold where the fuel was kept hadn’t submerged yet, so they could still make it if they went and fetched

it now. Hence, he didn’t want to waste this opportunity. He left Draco to lead a few men to bring the fuel

while deliberating on who to rescue. Seth pulled out a walkie- talkie and ordered the yacht to sail

toward them. They probably weren’t too far away and were likely on standby while waiting for his

orders.

Feeling some of her strength return to her, she moved Lewis off of her with effort, rose to her feet, and

searched for something aboard the yacht to stem his blood loss. She ransacked the vessel and found

white rolls of towels as well as two bottles of disinfecting solution. Pleased, she dashed back to Lewis

with the items in her arms. However, in her haste, she tripped and fell. One of the bottles of disinfecting

solution rolled away from her and into a pool of blood, becoming stained by it.

Ignoring her pain, she got back to her feet, picked up the bottle, and kneeled beside Lewis. Thankfully

the yacht was lit, so she was able to see his wound with some squinting. His back was completely

soaked in blood, and although she couldn’t see it, her hand was stained with blood when she touched

it. Gritting her teeth, she picked up the dagger that had been dropped, cut his clothes away from the

wounded area, and finally saw the wound on his back.

The wound wasn’t large, but it was very deep, and fresh blood was still pouring out of it. Josephine had

no clue what the correct steps were, so she could only hold the towel over his wound and apply

pressure to try and stop the bleeding. However, it didn’t take long for her to realize that the towel was

gradually dyed red as it absorbed his blood.

Her tears began flowing involuntarily again when she saw this. Looking at her surroundings, which

were only the vast ocean, there wasn’t anyone who could save Lewis. Fishing his phone out of his

pocket, she opened it only to find that there was no reception. She helplessly held him as her tears

mixed with the blood on her face and dripped off her chin. Lewis didn’t show any response at all.

Wasn’t he most afraid of her crying? However, he didn’t comfort her this time despite her crying so

sorrowfully.

“Louie.” Josephine couldn’t help her tears. It seemed the only thing she could hear out on the sea was

the sound of her weeping, which was blown away by the wind.

“Louie…”

Without someone to pilot it, the yacht drifted aimlessly upon the vast expanse of the sea. The passage

of time remained uncertain until the first glimmers of dawn broke, revealing clouds. scattered across

the sky. The yacht gradually slowed until it abruptly collided with something, jolting violently upon

impact.
