Chapter 705 No One Cared About Her

James and Jenny sat in a private booth in the restaurant.

Jenny wanted to ask him how he was doing, but she didn't know how to phrase it. She was

afraid that she'd make him upset.

"I've been so busy lately that I haven't had the time to catch up with you. How have you

been?” James asked. He had a smile on his face as if things were just like before.

Jenny felt even more worried seeing him like this. ’I'm doing pretty well. What about you?"

"Me?* James raised his eyebrows and slowly poured her a cup of coffee." I'm fine."

In fact, with someone to yell at every day he got home, he felt even better than before.

Jenny wanted to ask him about his situation with Jolene, but she knew it would upset him if

she did. She had to keep it to herself.

Not long after, the waiter served them their food.

"You've lost weight. Have things been hectic lately at Walter Inc?" James asked, handing

her a plate of mashed potatoes.

Jenny shook her head. "Not at all. On the contrary, I think I gained weight."

"Nonsense. You should be eating more." James handed her yet another plate of food as if

he was worried that she didn't have enough.

Jenny didn't refuse the food. Back when they were under Mr. Birkett's mentorship, James

would give her food just like this.

At the thought of Mr. Birkett, Jenny asked, ’Have you heard from Mr.

Birkett lately? He's been in Skaland for quite some time now."

Mr. Birkett would usually visit Skaland two weeks at a time. But now, he seemed to be

there for a while.

"I'm not sure, either. He did try to contact me before, but I wasn't around.’ James didn’t

think it was unusual. He smiled, saying, "Old people are like that. He probably found a

really nice place and decided to settle down.'

"Really?’ Jenny ate, feeling worried.

"If you're worried about him, I'll get someone to find him," James said, sensing she was

anxious.

Jenny thought about it for a while. In the end, her anxiety took over. "Yes. He's already of

old age, and no one is by his side."

Mr. Birkett had trained a few people, but Jenny was his last student. She didn't contact her

other seniors often, only James. When she joined, only James was there. The rest had gone

off on their own paths.

"Alright. I'll get someone to find him when I get back. Don't you worry," James promised.

He learned from Mr. Birkett not because he loved painting; he just wanted to enhance his

wisdom. He didn't expect to meet Jenny there. In retrospect, it was the best decision he

had ever made.

As they ate, Jolene reached the entrance of the restaurant.

She bribed the waiters and learned from them that Jenny and James were in the private

booth. She rushed toward them at once.

She slid open the door. They were stunned, turning their heads toward her.

"Jenny, you bitch!"

Jolene darted at Jenny before they could even react. Right before her sharp claws landed

on Jenny's face, she was sent flying by one of Jenny's kicks. She crashed onto the ground,

considerably hurt.

"Sorry. Old habits die hard,' Jenny apologized, but there was no hint of remorse on her

face. Jolene came looking for trouble, and Jenny wasn't going to hold back.

"You. J..." Jolene stammered, unable to even say a word. Tears streamed down her face.

What a pity. No one there cared about her.
