REAGAN'S POV.

The sound of my office door opening reverberates throughout the entire room and fills my ears. I don't look up to see who it is, but I can already identify him by his scent. Kyle.

Now I wonder what announcement he has cto make. As his approaching footsteps beclouder, I set down the pen in my hand and intertwine my fingers, looking up at him.

"Yes, Kyle. What other boring meeting or banquet am I scheduled to attend this taround?" I ask, keeping a bored look. He stops in front of the table and chuckles.

"I thought Ronald was joking when he said you're not too thrilled about the upcoming Annual meeting." "Oh, he wasn't pulling your legs, okay? The idea of being amongst those pesky, pompous Alphas for hours devastates me." I say, massaging my forehead with fingers and sighing heavily. "I'm not even joking." "I know you aren't. Especially with everything going on." "Exactly!" I slam my palms on the table and lean forward, flashing him a sinister smile. He likesmore than Ronald does. He's more relaxed when dealing withthan Ronald will ever be. He can...

"I know that look." One hand tucked in his trouser pocket, the other with its index finger circling around my face. "You want to demand something outrageous. You better swallow it, because just like Ronald, I won't let you try to cancel the annual meeting. You honestly have a death wish for all of us, don't you?" "So you and Ronald have now ganged up against me." "No one is ganging up against you. We just..." He stops, frowns his face and throws his hands in the air in derision, groaning. "Why the hell am I even having this talk with you when I'm here to say something else?" "Because you enjoy torturing me?" I tease, grinning like a fool and he shakes his head, probably sick of my tomfoolery. But he's stuck withthough. I have just two of them... him and Ronald.

They are the only people I can show my goofy side to without the fear of being judged, so they just have to deal with me.

"Alright then." I clear my throat and adjust myself on the chair, keeping a serious face. "Enough with the jokes. What is it you cto say" "My father is here to see you." His announcement hitslike ice cold water that makesfreeze on my spot and stare at him blankly like he has lost his mind.

Mr. William is here to see me.

Why? My brows furrow as I cast him a critical look.

"I don't remember making an appointment with him, so why is he here?" "Exactly. There's no appointment, therefore you just have to say the word and he'll be escorted out of this building." He sounds dead serious and I'm not surprised because Kyle has always been this way towards his father.

Hostile.

Kyle is the spitting image of his father and you'd expect that he inherited not only his father's features, but his personality as well, but boy are you wrong? His father is like Alina. Self-centred and ambitious. They don't care what they destroy on their way to achieving the goals they've set to achieve. And they both have one thing in common; They are very unlikable people.

I look at Kyle and sigh. I love him. I respect him a great deal and no matter how much I dislike Mr. William. No matter how much I want to dismiss him right now, I can't, because he is my best friend's father. "Send him in." My tone is nearly depressing.

"Are you sure?" "Yes, Kyle." I nod. "Just send him already so we can get this over with." "He's probably here to make a ridiculous demand of you. You shouldn't..." The intense side eye I shoot at him shuts his mouth. He clears his throat and nods his head. "Right away, My Lord." He swivels on his heels and saunters out of the office.

A few minutes later, I'm leaning against my chair, watching in amusement as the older version of Kyle breezes into my room like he owns it. After greeting me, he stays standing. "Please sit, Mr. William." "There's no need forto do that. Our conversation will be a brief one." Thank the goddess! I don't say that out loud.

"You do know that you no longer have the right to show up here as you please right? I could have sent you away without seeing you." "But you didn't." "Only because of the respect I have for Kyle, the present Delta of this pack." He raises his brows and chuckles lightly.

"I see." "You better see, because this will not happen again." The smile on his face disappears. "Is that understood?" My voice is tight with seriousness. My late father toldnever to go easy on this man else he'll walk all over me, now I understand what he was saying.

The old man grudgingly nods his head and says; "It is, my Lord." "Good. Now, can you tellwhat brought you here?" "I've cto discuss something very impossible with you." "It had better be something important, since I'm pausing very important work to have this impromptu meeting with you." "It's about my daughter, Alina." Here we go again.

My fingers curl into a fist at the mention of that name. Bile bubbles in my stomach like hot water and grit my teeth, hard.

Alina.

I hate that name.

I hate the person who owns even more.

"What about her?"

"After the Annual meeting that's to be held during the day, there'll be a banquet at night and you'll need to attend with female company. What you youngsters call a "date" these days. I want you to go with Alina as your date." His audacious request fills my ears and I crease my brows, titling my head from side to side as I try to understand the meaning. He wants Alina to be my date for the Banquet.

I chuckle lightly, brush the tip of my nose with my thumb.

Interesting. This is very interesting.

I rise from my seat to match his height, but I tower over him like a skyscraper towering a car parked in front of it. There's no trace of humour on his face, which means he's serious.

"Mr. William." I step away from my table and stand a few metres away from the frowning man 'It's true that you're old enough to be my father, but you are not. Therefore, you have no right to try and tellwhat to do." "Alina, my daughter is carrying your child. The future Alpha of this pack. She's more important to you than that girlfriend of yours..." "Point of correction." I cut him off and settle my gaze on his face. Ashanti is not just my girlfriend. She is my fated mate!" "It still doesn't matter! You will bring shupon my daughter by attending that ball with another girl!" He says fiercely and I fight my urge to laugh.

Now I see where Alina gets her resilience from.

I take two steps forward.

"I will not attend the Banquet with Alina as my date or female O companion as you call it. I'm sure she put you up to this so you can go relay the good news to her. For now, I need you to leave my office before I call security on you." The old man stays in his spot, fuming. "Now!" I thunder and he turns on his heels and storms out of the office.
