Chapter 1283  Virtuous Wife

Justin's birthday party was rather uneventful or in other words, it was peaceful. It passed without causing any waves. Everyone had a fun time. The only difference would be that they all stopped hiding their relationship from Justin and openly asked him to call them aunts, uncles, and whatnot according to their seniority.

Justin was obviously happy to have so many relationships especially when he could feel their kindness towards him. He was willing to step out of his shell and take a step towards them.

After the birthday party, half of the people took a flight straight to Xinji - the hometown of the Xiang family. Raelle and Shui Xian were in this group of people who arrived today rather than waiting for tomorrow. When they landed, the sun had already set. Cars were already waiting for them outside the airport that took them straight to the ancestral home of the Xiang family.

The ancestral house was built halfway up the mountain. As the car moved up the mountain, Raelle was looking out the window. Shui Xian suddenly said, "There are so many stars here."

Raelle turned to him.

"Isn't it? We don't see this many stars back home." He sighed in a relaxed manner as he added, "This is a quiet place. Seems like a good place for camping."

Raelle asked, "Camping? That's what came to your mind, husband?"

"Of course," he replied. "Just imagine. We are camping out in the company of nature. There is rustling of leaves, the mingling sounds of insects, there is a faint sound of gurgling of the water in the background. There is fire in front of the camp and we are cuddling together under the same blanket with a cup of steaming hot cocoa, looking at this sky full of stars."

"I didn't know you're so good at imagination," said Raelle.

"That's what came to your mind?"

"What else?"

"Don't you think it sounds romantic?" asked Shui Xian.

"What are you expecting me to answer to that question?"

Shui Xian sighed, "Forget it. Don't answer. You can't feel what I'm feeling through just the narration of my imagination. So, I'll just make it a reality to make you understand this feeling. After the experience, I'll ask you if it's romantic or not."

"I'll wait," said Raelle and didn't dampen his spirit by saying that she wasn't interested in camping. Even though she was really not that looking forward to this experience. However, she was willing to accompany him in his chase. Yes, she thought he was chasing the stars. Whenever they came across a starry sky, he'd always pay it too much attention. Whether it was when they were together in his cabin in the woods, or when they were in the hotel room on their engagement night, or when they were at the temple after she left the hospital, or even when she first had a real close interaction with him on their very short but cozy honeymoon.

It was quite ironic that Shui Xian had the same thought towards her. He didn't think she was chasing the stars like she did. But he was certain that she'd always look at the sky whenever they were out. She thought he was the one paying attention to stars but she didn't realize that it was her who unconsciously followed the stars making him curious to know what she was looking in those stars. Whatever it was, he was willing to keep it a mystery. He didn't even try to clear up this small misunderstanding between them. He just thought it was fun.

"Xian!"

"Hm?"

"I'm here with you," said Raelle.

Shui Xian frowned in confusion before holding her hand and kissing the back of her hand saying, "I'm here too. Don't always think that I'd be sad seeing you down. Of course, your mood will affect me but I'd rather give you company than leaving you alone in that situation."

"I'm rarely sad," she said.

"I know. It's not like I'm blaming you."

"Tsk. It's not like you blame me for anything."

"I'm such a great husband. How did you get so lucky?"

"I don't know."

Shui Xian was taken aback when she played along with him and momentarily forgot what to say. He took a moment to add, "So, you agree?"

"When did I not?" she asked back.

"Don't look at me like that, I'm gonna blush," said Shui Xian with a chuckle. "It's so flattering." He slid over to her side and hugged her shoulder, "My dear wife, your compliments make my day."

"Oh? Why didn't you say so? Should we make it a tradition?"

"Huh?"

"To compliment each other every day."

"Would it be too much?" he asked.

"I don't know. I can handle it. What about you?"

"Of course, you can handle it. You have the confidence to carry the burden of so many compliments but I might get crushed or I might combust. What to do then?"

"That's an exaggeration," said Raelle.

"Wife, you should take me seriously once in a while."

"Don't wanna."

"Did my wife just got a rebellious bone in her out of somewhere?"

"Why? I can't?"

"You can," said Shui Xian. "It's just it took me by surprise that my obedient little wife actually said no."

"What do you mean? You make me sound like a virtuous wife. I don't think I fit there."

"Yeah. But it's a fact that you are a very obedient person."

"Only when things are reasonable and I personally don't think there is anything wrong with following other person's words."

Shui Xian gave her a look but didn't say anything. It's not like he hadn't seen her agreeing to things she didn't want to do. Why think about something else when just now, she was clearly against the camping but just because he said it, she agreed to join in his whimsical idea.

He didn't know what was the definition of a virtuous wife but he felt that his wife was perfect. At least, she was a perfect fit with him. Even when they had different ideas in life, they weren't stubborn enough to make it an issue between them. And until now, he didn't think they had any arguments since they got married. None that involved their relationship.
