Max smiled listening to Regus's offer.

If there were any lingering doubts in his mind that the King was desperate, they were now dispelled.

Regus's hatred for him was so profound it was oozing through his teeth as he said this offer.

It wasn't an exaggeration to say that if Regus was not forced to give Max such a flowery offer, he would most likely be dead by now, or still rotting inside the underground prison.

The fact that Regus was forced to hold this talk was a big win for Max as it showed that the King was desperate.

In fairness, his offer was not at all bad.

If Max promised to not go after the throne, Regus was willing to look the other way for everything else.

He had not even confirmed as of yet if Max's race was truly primordial vampire or not, but he was still willing to make the common masses believe that Max was not actually a primordial vampire and hence help fix his reputation, which just went to show how big of a hoax the entire agenda was from the start.

If Max agreed, the Bloodfall clan would gain massive benefits and probably rise through the clan rankings to enter top10.

If Regus's support held steady then in the next 6 years they could rise to top 5.

With Max's promise of not going after the throne, even if he reached rank1 Regus would not care, but would it even be worth anything then?

With the war now over, Max understood that reaching tier7 and tier8 was not going to be easy or a matter of a few short years.

Max's explosive growth period most likely ended here and just like all the other powerful god's, it was time for him to divert his attention to building the strength of his clan and his people while indulging in the other luxuries of life.

Him being forced to kneel before Regus was enough proof that he was nowhere near ready to fight the Vampire Monarch just yet.

If he only accepted the deal, he could grow in peace for several years to come and it would be beneficial not only for himself but also for his people.

If he was at odds with the monarchy, eventually it wasn't going to be just him who was affected, it would be his friends, his family and his people who would bear the brunt of it too and accepting this offer could help nullify all that suffering.

Yet despite his rational brain telling him to accept this golden chance, his heart was nowhere near convinced.

There were 3 visions that had driven his entire second life and the final and most important vision was him finally ascending the throne on Ixtal.

He could give up on everything, but he could not give up on what Hazriel told him was his destiny, as turning his back on that would mean turning his back on the one person who gave him a shot at second life when he wholeheartedly desired for it.

Hence shaking his head, Max looked Regus defiantly in the eye as he mouthed the two letters that Regus wished he would never hear.

" N O "

In a fit of rage, Regus was upon Max and before he could even react he felt a terrifying kick across his midsection that sent him flying out of the room.

*CRASH*

Max broke 7 walls and 7 ribs as he spat a mouthful of blood before eventually falling straight into the Sanguis.

The river immediately cushioned his fall as if it was welcoming it's lord and saviour as in that instant Max's entire body began to glow with a faint red aura and his eyes turned the same shade of bright neon red that they did when he was pissed off beyond reason at Angakok.

Within seconds his injuries mended and even though he was underwater he could breathe perfectly well as he felt unnaturally strong and sharp.

Aurelius clan god's tried to jump into the river, their intention being to capture Max, yet shockingly the river became a solid barrier which prevented them from diving into it as their heads bounced off painfully at the surface.

' The Sanguis welcomes the arrival of the primordial one '

The river murmured as Max felt something fundamentally changing within his body.

From the window of his palace, Regus felt his heartbeat rise as he saw his tier6 commanders desperately trying to enter Sanguis river to find Max and failing.

The words of the ancient prophecy rang clearly in his mind as flashbacks of the dead vampire king haunted him.

" The Sanguis shall be his weapon…. " Regus murmured realising the blunder he had just committed as well as getting the confirmation on Max's true identity.

From his view, he could clearly see the bright spot within the Sanguis where Max was undergoing an otherworldly experience as Regus calmly pointed his palm in that direction and gathered divine essence.

Regus's intention was clear!

Since the river would not let his men enter, he would blast apart the entire river to create an opening, but never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined what was to happen next.

When he finally gathered enough divine essence for the attack and directed it at Max inside the river, the Sanguis rose like a blanket and absorbed Regus's blast before the blanket exploded into a million droplets which all fell from the sky sounding like howls of werewolves.

*HOOOWWWWWLLLLLLLL*

A primal howl covered Ixtal, a howl so loud and so powerful that it gave every moden vampire on Ixtal including Regus himself goosebumps.

The common Aurelius clan god's were terrified, they had no idea as to what was happening or why.

But Regus, who knew the true bloody history of Ixtal, looked ashen as he realised that letting Max live was going to not only be a threat to his throne, but the very fabric of vampire society itself.
