118 Swosh Swosh

There was no way he would let the monsters pass the barrier and enter the building.

Kain hurriedly lifted his upper body and moved his whip.

“Huaap!”

He took a deep breath and sent the whip towards the monster with all of his power.

The pseudoscorpion was breaking the barrier with its sharp pincers.

The whip moved towards the pseudoscorpion at a high speed. The water whip twisted around the pseudoscorpion’s two pincers, momentarily stopping the monster from destroying the barrier.

IEEEK

The monster was shocked and stopped for a moment.

Kainused that moment to pull the whip.

.....

With that, he pulled the monster back with all of his might.

The wet and icy ground caused the monster to slipper a little bit and move away from the barrier.

He had succeeded in forcing the monster back a little bit.

Only a little bit.

And there was another problem as well.

KIEEEK!

Kain heard a screech from behind. It was coming from the monster that had hit him from behind just now.

Drip Drip

His back hurt.

It was bleeding.

“Was its pincer poisonos?”

Kain thought it was probably the case. He felt the strength leaving his body slowly and started to get dizzy.

His hand holding the whip started to shake.

“Hah!”

He scoffed.

It was really ridiculous. The whole situation was so damn ridiculous.

KIEW

He felt a shadow being cast over his body. A huge shadow that obviously belonged to a monster.

Kain looked up. He could see the disgusting face of a monster right on top of his head.

KIEE!

The monster made a noise when they made eye contact.

“Ah, shut up!”

Kain moved his injured right arm and held the whip with both hands.

The monster, the scorpion, moved its sharp pincer up and slowly lowered it towards Kain. It acted as if it enjoyed watching the last moments of its play.

KIEEK!

The monster made another noise and moved the pincer even closer.

Then...

K-

The monster’s head exploded.

PLOP

And its body plopped down to the ground.

“.....”

Kain whipped the monster’s body fluid off of his face and stared at the dead scorpion with a blank face.

He then suddenly felt the weight that he was pulling with both hands vanish.

Splash Splash

The water whip lost its form and turned to shapeless water.

“.....”

It took Kain a minute to realize the situation.

“Oh, they came.”

KIEEE KII

GWAK

BOMMMM

The monsters’ screeches rose to the air at the next moment and their bodies fell to the ground one by one like autumn leaves in the wind.

Sitting in the center of all of the slaughter, Kain looked around in search of the ones who were killing the monsters.

It wasn’t hard to notice who they were.

A blonde man was kicking a monster’s belly, holding a blade embraced with golden light.

On the other side, monsters were dropping down to the ground one by one with various holes in their bodies.

Kain lowered his head after confirming the identity of those two.

His head was spinning and his sight was going dark.

Kain scoffed.

“Heh! I keep being saved by that unit’s members.”

He felt his body slowly leaning to one side. Then, he felt his body hitting a wet and cold something.

He smelled the disgusting scent of blood and monster fluid all over.

Kain felt someone was calling for him, though he didn’t care about it.

‘Let’s answer them later.’

With that thought, he closed his eyes.

. . . . . .

BOMMM

Another monster fell to the ground.

“I guess it was the last one.”

Captain Neal checked the locations that were sent to her. There was a green dot in the place where they currently were standing. This place was used to be marked with red previously.

“You also check your device. There might be some differences.”

“Yes.”

Kairen took out the communication device from his pocket and turned it on.

There was also a list of monsters’ locations that was sent to him. Kairen opened the list and checked it.

All of the places were marked with green.

“There is none.”

Kairen looked at the other places as well.

There were some places that were still red, but most parts of the city were shown with green.

“It seems like the situation is mostly taken care of.”

“Yes...”

Kairen checked the map once more and was about to turn off the device again when he suddenly heard a voice.

.....

-Hey, Kairen. Do you hear me?”

It was a familiar voice.

Actually too familiar that made shivers run down Kairen’s back.

“What is it, Reyan?”

The answer came back a little bit later.

-If you are done, come back to the SMF’s hospital.

Kairen was expecting to be cursed and yelled at again, but Reyan’s answer was completely different from his expectations.

“Hospital? Why?”

-Why do you have to ask so many questions all the time? Just come here.

Kairen didn’t answer Reyan right away.

He didn’t know what Reyan wanted to do this time. He had no idea why he was being called to the hospital.

‘Is he injured?’

That was the first thought that crossed his head.

That thought made him nervous for some unknown reasons, but Kairen dismissed that theory.

Reyan wouldn’t call him to the hospital if he was injured.

‘Did he use the situation to his own good and finally kill Serria?’

“....”

‘Let’s stop thinking about the reason.’

-Hoy!

“A-Alright. I’ll come right away.”

Kairen was tired and out of mana anyway. There was nothing he could do on the battlefield at the moment.

“Sorry, captain. Can I use this car to go back?”

Captain Neal that had probably overheard his conversation, nodded her head.

“You are going to the hospital, right? I have to go back as well. Let’s go together.”

“...Yes.”

. . . . . . . .

“Shhhh! Be quiet!”

Alessia grabbed his son’s arms tough and held him closer.

“BUT PAPA! HICK!”

The kid hiccuped. He grabbed and pulled her mother’s hands.

“WAAAHH!”

And burst into tears. The kid cried out loud, making everybody in the hall turn and glare at him.

“I told you he’ll be fine!”

Alessia smiled awkwardly at the people who were glaring at her son. Those people took their eyes off of the kid and continued to do whatever they were doing.

The hospital was filled with people today.

There were a lot of injured people. Not just people, but agents and hunters were also injured.

The place was filled with people’s sounds and cries.

A little kid screaming was something natural to hear today in this place.

However, this one kid here was yelling and crying for almost an hour already.

“Sigh.”

Alessia sighed and patted the kid’s head.

‘Why didn’t I see him running off towards the window?’

She was busy dealing with people and controlling his power that she didn’t notice that her son had run towards a window and was watching his father fight outside.

Nothing much could be seen through the ice barrier, but the kid still saw some unpleasant scenes.

“Hick! Hick!”

“There there.”

Alessia herself was tired due to overusing her power.

Her attribute, cold, was what was used in creating the barrier as well as a lot of other ice structures.

She had to control it from far away, and that made it even more exhausting.

She sincerely wished that she could just lie down and sleep, but she had to first do something with this kid.

Creek

Alessia raised her head after hearing the sound of a door opening. Once she turned towards the door, she saw a familiar face.

A really welcoming face.

“....”

The boy was looking around blankly as if he didn’t know what he was supposed to do here.

Alessia subconsciously started to smile.

“Hick! Un?”

Ariyan tilted his head after seeing his mother suddenly smiling, and looked at where she was looking at.

His eyes sparkled as soon as he saw who he was.

“UNKLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”

He let go of his mother’s hands almost immediately and ran towards him while screaming.

Kairen was so startled by the sudden scream that he jumped up, grabbing his chest.

“W-what?”

Once he looked down, a small creature was running towards him at a high speed.

“UNKLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!”

Kairen took one step back.

“UNKLE! UNKLE PAPA!”

The kid hugged his legs as soon as he arrived at Kairen.

“....”

He whipped his wet face with Kairen’s pants. Ariyan raised his head and looked at Kairen with teary eyes.

“Unkle, papa!”

Kairen looked around. Now that he looked closely, he could see Alessia sitting on a chair.

‘Did something happen to Kain?’

Kairen sat down on the ground to be at the same height as the kid.

“Papa what?”

“Papa... Papa... Papa!”

The kid stuttered and looked at Kairen’s eyes. He released Kairen’s pants and grabbed his shirt as he was now sitting on the ground.

Ariyan pulled his shirt and continued to talk.

“Papa went SWOSH SWOSH!”

“....”

“And then BANG BANG!”

“....”

“Then everything was KWAK KWAK!”

“.....”

Ariyan pulled his shirt even more.

“Then... Then he became SPLASH SPLASH!!!!!!!”

“....”

What?
