CHAPTER 476

"You do?" Andromeda inquired, wanting to make sure she heard right.

"I do, ma'am."

"Tell me about it," Andromeda prompted Peng Xiaoli to elaborate, her eyes holding a certain interest in them as she gazed at Peng Xiaoli.

Since she was being completely honest, she placed the blame on herself because, despite having known her for such a long time, she never gave any thought to her objectives and instead concentrated on her own issues, whereas Peng Xiaoli had always been there for her.

Andromeda took a full breath in and then leaned forward on the table, supporting her jaw with the palm of her hand. "I'm holding my breath."

"Yes, I am." Peng Xiaoli let out a muffled chuckle.

"Okay." While they were both waiting, Peng Xiaoli saw that Andromeda's fingers were absentmindedly tapping against the table.

'Such an impatient young lady when it comes to things of interest.' Peng Xiaoli noted inwardly.

"To live a life that is uncomplicated."

Andromeda cocked her head to the side and inquired, "Pardon?"

"Miss Andromeda, I said that I did have a goal and that was to have a simple life."

Before proceeding, she immediately stopped what she was doing to focus on Andromeda.

"However, after getting to know you..." Peng Xiaoli's voice died off as she looked away with a longing in her eyes, as if she had just remembered something.

"Xiaoli."

She blinked, a melancholy smile appearing on her lips as she did so.

"I detested what Wu Bai did to you, but there was nothing I could do to stop it, and you were content. However, your generosity was genuine, and let's just say that I became infected by it; as a result, I now find it difficult to let go."

Andromeda's eyes revealed a complex mixture of feelings at the same time. Everything appeared to her as if it were a dream.

"I am grateful that he, as well as Beatrice Zhang, received what they both deserved. In addition, I have a new objective."

Andromeda readjusted her position in her seat and concentrated. No matter what choice Peng Xiaoli made, she knew deep down in her heart that she would support her in every way she could. She was determined to help her.

"To be by your side till such time as you no longer require my services. I want to shield you from harm, lend you a helping hand, and then see you succeed. That by itself is plenty to satisfy me.

Before Andromeda or Peng Xiaoli knew what was happening, tears streamed down Andromeda's cheeks.

"Miss Andromeda."

She gestured with her right hand to get Peng Xiaoli to cease worrying about her by raising it in front of them. "I truly apologise."

Quickly, Peng Xiaoli pulled out a cream-coloured handkerchief from her pocket and handed it to Andromeda.

"Please."

Andromeda smiled as she acknowledged the offer and accepted it. Before putting the tissue down and glancing at her helper, she gave the tears a quick dab with her handkerchief.

"If I'm being completely honest, I do not know what to say."

Looking directly into her eyes, Peng Xiaoli counselled while giving her a grin. "Then say you would need my assistance, and that is fine by me," she said.

"I do. I do a lot more than you realize, and it would be wonderful to have you come along on this adventure with me. And most importantly, I will do everything in my ability to assist you in pursuing your aspirations in the event that you decide to take a different road," Andromeda promised.

"Until that time, ma'am, my decision will not change." I am grateful.

"No." Andromeda reached out her hand in an attempt to join it with her own. "I am grateful."

Moments passed, and they remained that way, staring into each other's eyes while silently conveying a message of trust and love between them.

Although she did not have sisters, she found herself with two close friends who passed as one.

"All right, that's enough of that. It wouldn't do for you to cry all day before Liu Xueyi comes for my neck."

Andromeda nodded.

"I can't have that happen. In addition, an A-list actress has asked us to design a look for her next birthday party she will be celebrating. I request the very best from you."

Andromeda offered a brief nod as she sniffed and continued her investigation. "All right, captain."

Right after that, a roar of laughter ripped through both of their mouths.

"On a side note, how was the rest of your morning?" Peng Xiaoli posed the question.

"It's going well," Andromeda replied while making a concerted effort to conceal any indication that she was feeling guilty in order to avoid being drawn into the conversation on the true reason why she had arrived so late.

"Hmm. You have a good night's rest?" Peng Xiaoli pushed.

"Yeah. That's enough chatter," she interjected quickly ending the conversation. Knowing Peng Xiaoli well, it was no news that catching her would be easy. "Where's Xiaofei?" Andromeda changed the conversation.

"She had to deliver something to the PR department. She should be back any minute now."

Just then a soft knock came on the door, and it pushed open, ushering in Jian Xiaofei.

Her stunning beauty shone through despite the fact that she was dressed in burnt orange trousers with a relaxed fit, a black fitted turtleneck sweater and a pair of black boots to match.

She raised her head and exhaled, her eyes fixating on a single point in the room as she focused her attention there. Her eyes lit up with excitement the moment she caught a glimpse of Andromeda.

"Miss Andy!" she exclaimed.

Taking to her heels, she dashed inside the office and made a beeline for Andromeda, enveloping her in a bear embrace.

Shocked, it took Andromeda a few seconds to relax before patting Jian Xiaofei's head softly.

"Hello sweetie. I'm happy to see you too. Oh, and Liu Xueyi better not catch you calling me that," she teased.

As soon as they broke apart, both Andromeda and Peng Xiaoli raised their brows at her insane grin, like a five-year-old promised the world.

"What's up?"

"Nothing much. I am proud of you. On my way to the PR department, guess whose name reigned on everyone's lips? I also got compliments about you," Jian Xiaofei relayed, her eyes brimming with pride.

"I see," she chuckled to herself. "Thanks. Also, just try not to dwell on these matters too much in your mind. It's only a passing phase and a season. I'd rather bag the title over and over to prove myself than be a one-time champ."

"In our eyes, you have proven yourself already. Take a look at Liu Corporation as a whole. Your presence transformed this company, taking it higher," Jian Xiaofei explained.

She hated Andromeda looking down on herself when she deserved to be held in high esteem.

"Alright. But it wasn't just me. I had you girls, and Xueyi has done the best job as the CEO."

"Sure," Peng Xiaoli chimed in, rising to her feet and adjusting her shirt.

"Okay, let's head to the workroom now. There is no time to waste."
