Ghost ship shot into the silver clouds and headed away from the capital.

When the twenty level 9s from different cities encircled the city, they only found its remains.

Five of them stayed behind to look for survivors and look after what was left of the city while the remaining fifteen chased after the ghost ship.

"Gone! It's…gone!" An Abyssal choked up as her shoulders shook uncontrollably.

The grand city that stretched for thousands of square miles was now nothing but rubble.

Its glorious buildings were crushed to pieces. Its wide roads which once housed Abyssals from all walks of life were littered with corpses.

The walls of the city somehow still stood, but there were no people inside the city for them to protect.

Just like them who survived this ordeal but lost their reason for surviving.

"Eight million." An Abyssal who had kept his eyes closed until now suddenly said.

His words drew the attention of his four companions.

The Abyssal looked at them with teary eyes and said through gritted teeth. "Eight million died."

"I…"

"Only two million survived?"

"Why?"

"Arghh!"

None of the four Abyssals were able to keep a cool head.

Disbelief, grave realization, grief and rage.

Negative emotions engulfed them and burnt their hearts.

"I'll go to Mars and kill them!"

"For every Abyssal, I'll kill ten humans!"

"Aren't they now struggling in the planetoids, I'll show them true hell!"

"Kill!"

The four Abyssals got prepared to carry out their revenge. Their eyes were red and their hearts were thumping for blood.

Even if they die, they wouldn't care. Only the blood of their enemies could cool down the flames of their rage.

The Abyssal who announced the casualties was the only one who was able to still think rationally.

He knew that normal words wouldn't work on them. So, he said "If you go, then Varian might attack the two million survivors that escaped. Do you want that?"

"I—"

"No!"

"Save! We must save them!"

The rational Abyssal sighed in relief and assigned them a direction each. "Search for survivors. Don't stray too far. Once you find any survivors, send them to the safehold nearby. Don't bring them back to the city."

The four Abyssals nodded and were about to take off. Then, the Abyssal who sobbed earlier asked. "What are you going to do?"

"I?" The rational Abyssal gave her a wry smile and cast his glance toward the remains of the city.

A nostalgic gaze flashed in his eyes before it was replaced by overwhelming grief. "I'll check the city for the treasures we can recover. Mainly, the castle."

"Be careful."

"You too."

After the four Abyssals flew away, the rational Abyssal collapsed to the ground and slammed the rough floor.

"Why?"

He looked at the city he grew up in.

"Why did this happen?"

He bit his lip as he saw his school, his parents' home, his neighborhood, and the entire street in ruins.

In the ruins of his home, he saw two Abyssals hugging each other as their bodies were crushed under the debris.

"Mom, Dad..."

Tears slid down his cheeks as the man who always remained calm bawled his eyes out.

The Abyssals chasing after the Ghost Ship cursed out loud as they felt it suddenly speed up.

They knew its tactics.

So, the psychics immediately used their power and constructed an illusion. Meanwhile, the telekinetics created large barriers in front of the ship.

The ghost ship didn't seem to be affected by the illusions and rushed ahead. When they thought it'd collide with the invisible barriers, twenty different attacks hit the barrier.

Even though each of these attacks came from injured level 9 humans, all of these attacks were concentrated on a particular area of the barrier. So, that area broke apart without any resistance.

Passing through the paved gap, Ghost Ship continued its escape.

"Fuck!"

"Don't give up!"

This was already the fifth time. Every time, at least, two or three pursuers were left behind.

And now, only three telekinetics were still able to keep up with it.

Inside the ghost ship, Varian tapped his chin as he observed the three Abyssals. It had been a few minutes since they started.

The ghost ship was going at full speed and these Abyssals were forced to give their 100% just to not lost sight of their target.

As a result, even though they had a lot of strength, they were indeed a bit exhausted.

Varian glanced at the twenty-three old men and women who were being continuously fed healing potions.

The ones that initially had fatal injuries were no longer in danger. The ones with major injuries recovered somewhat and minor injuries were completely healed.

"We're almost there," Varian tapped his armrest as he glanced at the map.

Three Abyssals were chasing them and four Abyssals were following those three and eight were following those four.

Basically, only three were able to sense Ghost Ship. Only four were able to sense the three. The final eight were able to only sense the four.

As long as the three kept up, the chase wouldn't stop.

If Varian dared to engage in a battle with those three, the remaining Abyssals would catch up in no time and turn the battle into a protracted one.

'Protracted battle means game over.' Varian thought but his eyes glowed with a decisive light as he eyed the map.

"Boys and girls," He addressed the Strike Teams.

"Fuck!" The old men and women who were recovering felt their bodies shiver at his greeting.

The last time he said those words, they raided a fucking capital!

The crazy part was they succeeded!

Of course, seven of them died. It's really a pity, but when they signed up for this mission, they were all ready to die!

They weren't naive enough to believe they could all survive such a dangerous mission.

But for the results they achieved, twenty-three of them were alive and kicking!

This was nuts!

In fact, due to Archduke's plan, they would've all died. But thanks to Varian's perfect countermove, they survived.

When death seemed inevitable, Varian's actions were like the grave of Heaven.

So, while they didn't say it out loud, they started to appreciate his skills as a leader.

That's why they're curious.

What's this crazy nutjob gonna do now?

"We're gonna insta-kill those three Abyssals."

"Huh?"

"Don't worry. It's super easy, barely an inconvenience."
