Stefania and Timothy were also staring at the doctor in trepidation. Timothy felt a strange

sense of uneasiness. “How’s my sister, doctor?” he urged as well.

The doctor looked at them. He was feeling grim as well, but he didn’t clarify Tessa’s

condition. He simply said, “We will definitely do our best to save the patient.”

Then, he went back into the surgical theater. The others carried out waiting

apprehensively outside. Nicholas leaned against the wall. If he didn’t, he probably

would’ve collapsed onto the floor.

Even though the doctor didn’t say anything explicitly, Nicholas knew that Tessa’s condition

will be fine. She promised me that we’ll grow old together. We’ll watch the children grow

up together.”

Kieran kept trying to convince Nicholas, but Nicholas ignored him and kept standing

wordlessly by the wall. Timothy’s eyes reddened.

He knew that Tessa was most likely in a critical condition, and he was filled with worry.

He always considered it his responsibility to protect his sister, but disaster struck before

he could do anything! “You have to be okay, Tess. You said you’ll be there at my wedding.

faith in her.”

do you think Tessa will make it?”

“She has always been a strong one. I’m sure she will make it for the children’s sake, and

for Nicholas’ sake too,” Tobias replied gravely.

Gregory continued silently shedding tears as he listened to what the adults were saying.

“Don’t leave me, Mommy. I’ll be a good boy.” The atmosphere in the corridor was somber.

Everyone hoped that Tessa would be alright. Inside the surgical theater, things were

getting a lot more desperate. Tessa had lost too much blood and the hospital’s blood bank

didn’t have enough supplies for her blood type.

The doctor had no choice but to come out and explain the situation. “We’ve already

arranged for blood to be brought over from a different hospital, but it will take some time.”

“How can you not have enough supplies in your blood bank? Doesn’t your hospital check

these things? Nicholas fumed at the doctor with a stormy expression.

Timothy was shaking and he fixed his eyes on the doctor as he asked, “What will happen

to my sister if there’s not enough blood for her?”

“The patient… might die from losing too much blood.” The doctor hesitated before giving

an honest answer. This was the last straw. Nicholas, who had been silent all this while,
